The Budgeting System That Helped Us Stop Failing
We failed at budgeting many times. What we realized is that the typical budgeting method doesn’t work for most people.
After a lot of trial and error, we created a simple system that felt totally different, and it actually worked. For the first time, we felt financially confident and in control.
We got rid of the categories, the monthly planning, the planners, and the colored highlighters. And along with all that, we let go of the shame, the failure, and the frustration. What was left was something… happier!
You can explore more through the links at the top of the page:

We hope your budgeting journey is a happy one! We’re here to help make it easier.
How to Use the Spreadsheet (It’s Just 3 Simple Steps)
You don’t need to know how to build formulas or even be good with spreadsheets! The system is already built for you. Just follow these 3 simple steps in our budgeting spreadsheet:
1. Enter your income and expenses
Add everything you expect to earn and the fixed bills you know you’ll have. The spreadsheet uses this to calculate what’s safe to spend.
2. Pick your weekly spending amount (your Happy Money)
This is the money you’ll use each week for groceries, gas, fun, or anything else that’s not a fixed expense. The spreadsheet helps you find a number that keeps everything balanced.
3. Check your 2-year forecast
The spreadsheet automatically shows you if your account will ever go negative and what your lowest balance will be. You’ll see whether your Happy Money number works. And if it doesn’t, you can tweak it!
Bonus tip: Your first time, try choosing a higher weekly allowance than you think you need. If you don’t spend it all, you can always move it to savings or roll it over to next week!
What’s Included in the Spreadsheet
This isn’t a blank file with a few cells to fill in, it’s a complete budgeting system, already set up to help you make confident decisions with your money. Here’s what’s inside:
A 2-year forecast that shows when (or if) your account will go negative
Weekly Happy Money calculations based on your income and fixed expenses
Simple charts that show your cash flow over time
Built-in tips and explanations to guide you as you go
You don’t need to start from scratch. Just open the spreadsheet and start entering your numbers! We built this to replace the usual budget planner spreadsheets that make everything too complicated.
What Is “Happy Money”?
Happy Money is your weekly spending money. It’s what you use for groceries, gas, eating out, fun, and everything that isn’t a fixed bill. Instead of sorting every dollar into categories, you get one simple number you can actually remember and stick to.
It’s flexible, it’s easy, and it’s surprisingly effective. If it’s not a bill and it’s not savings, it comes out of your Happy Money. That’s it.
Don’t worry! The spreadsheet does all of the hard calculations for you! We’ll help you feel like an expert even if it’s your first time.
This one change helped us stop overspending, stop guessing, and finally feel like budgeting could fit into our real lives.
